ANANTNAG, MARCH 20: Directorate of Sericulture Development Department organised a Kisan Mela under Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Scheme at Sarnal Nursery Anantnag today.
Farmers associated with Sericulture farming from Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts participated in the Kisan mela. Scientists from Temperate Sericulture Research Institute Mirgund SKUAST Srinagar, Central Silk Board Pampore and Sericulture Department shared their views and experience with the Sericulture farmers. They informed the farmers regarding new techniques, facilities and schemes of the department.
Deputy Director Sericulture Anantnag, Mohammad Abdullah Bhat said that department has made available all the facilities for the farmers and they can contact the department round the clock. He added that Deputy Directorate Sericulture Anantnag has a target of 55000 Kgs Cocoons for the current year and an income of 1.29 crore has been registered so far. He also said that 16500 mulberry trees have been planted under MGNREGA.
