​SP College commemorates International Women’s day

SRINAGAR, MARCH 16: To commemorate International Women’s day a function was held at S.P College Srinagar.
Vice Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar, Dr Sheikh Javeed Ahmed, Registrar, Cluster University Srinagar Dr Yaseen Ahmed Shah, Chairperson Help Foundation, Mrs Nighat Shafi Pandit and large number of participants attended the function.

On this occasion, Dr Yaseen Ahmed Shah praised the efforts of women and stressed upon the need to do away with the binary opposition. Dr Sheikh Javeed Ahmed reflected on great women personalities and hailed their work and dedication.

Mrs Nighat Shafi Pandit emphasized on how women can create heaven on earth if given a chance. The day was commemorated not as a battle against the men but as an alarming reminder to the world community in realizing the importance of standing together for the sustainable peace, honor and integrity of women.

The other speakers sensitized the audience about the pain and agony of those women who are victimized by the violence, poverty and patriarchy. They emphasized the common course of empowerment that is to stand with the passion, purpose and power for a positive change.

Arifa Jan-a young entrepreneur who revived Numdha craft of Kashmir was also felicitated on the occasion.
