Srinagar, March 21: Janta Dal United Tuesday declared that the party is not going to contest the upcoming by-elections for Parliament in Kashmir.
The State President Janata Dal United GM Shaheen said that the situation is not conducive for elections in Valley. “The recent uprising left scores dead and blinded. The arrest spree continues. People are still languishing in jails and victim families move from pillar to post to get justice. In such circumstance, the party can’t file any candidate and thus has decided to stay away from the election process,” he told CNS and added that the decision was taken at a party high command meeting.
Pertinently, Awami Itihaad Party and National Panthers Party have already decided not to contest the byelections that are going to be held on April 9 and 12 next month. (CNS)
