‘Media is fourth pillar of society, thwarting them to perform duties is wrong’
Srinagar, Mar 18: Jammu and Kashmir All Parties Coordination Committee (APSCC) today condemned the police action against media fraternity in Kashmir Valley.
In a statement issued to KNS, Chairman of APSCC-Jagmohan Singh Raina said that the action of policemen is worth condemnation, as manhandling of Tauseef Mustafa amounts to choking freedom of speech.
“Media is the fourth pillar of society and thwarting them to perform duties is wrong. The police have to mend their way of working as assaulting media amounts to choking freedom of speech and expression,” he said.
“Like police was doing its legal duties, media were also executing its professional duties by covering the event outside the residence of Syed Ali Shah Geelani”, he added. (KNS)
