                   Srinagar.  March 30: participating in Indian elections means disregarding the sacred sacrifices rendered by martyrs. Legend, ideologue, Youth icon and symbol of Kashmiri revolution Shaheed I Kashmir Ishfaq Majeed Wani was a born leader who strived for the freedom of Kashmiri nation and sacrificed himself for the righteous cause. The nation of Kashmir can never forget the struggle and services of this great soul. Moulana Shabir Sideequi was a great son of soil whose sacrifices will always be remembered.

This was stated by the incarcerated chairman JKLF Mohammad Yasin Malik while recalling the struggle and sacrifices rendered by great Kashmiri resistance leader Ashfaq Majeed Wani. JKLF chairman in his message from jail said that Ashfaq Majeed Wani was a born leader and the days and years of his life from 6thSeptember 1966 to 30th march 1990 are a shining mark of his greatness. He said that Ashfaq Majeed Wani was a humble slave of almighty Allah who whenever took a step, took it in the way of truth and justice. He was a symbol of Courage, Fearlessness, piousness, passion, and resistance against illegal occupation and injustice. Yasin Malik said that Torture cells, jails and other  oppression were not able to deter him from his path and he stood firm in the way of freedom movement till his martyrdom. He said that people who think that people’s revolution in 1990 was only an outcome of some election rigging are mistaken. In fact the struggle for freedom led by Ashfaq Majeed Wani was not the outcome of any election error only but it was an ongoing process which was speeded up by Shaheed father of Kashmiri nation Muhammad Maqbbol Butt‘s martyrdom in 1984. JKLF chairman said that it was Ashfaq Majeed Wani’s gallant leadership in 1988 that gave courage to hundreds and thousands of young men to stand up for the cause of freedom and independence. Ashfaq Majid Wani led this people’s revolution in 1990 and changed the 5000 year old history of Kashmir. It was his leadership that united a nation which was tagged as coward and inactive for a just cause and history bears a witness that thousands of young people followed Ashfaq Majeed Wani and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of their nation and till today this process of sacrifices is going on unabated and on daily basis and our young heroes are sacrificing their lives for the righteous cause. Incarcerated JKLF chief said that bravery, courage and truthfulness were blended in his blood and cold weathers or hot seasons always failed to stop his march towards truth.  He said that Pass out of Tyndale Biscoe school and high class intellectual Shaheed Ashfaq Majeed was a follower of Quran and Sunnah, a heroic commander, a wise political leader, a refined diplomat, a fiery speaker, a respected student and a great athlete .Above all he was an inspiring personality who had courage to call a spade a spade and look into the eyes of tyrant and oppressors and fight against it with firmness, added Yasin Malik. While paying tributes to martyr Shaheed I Sadaqat Shabir Ahmad Sidiqi and other Dargah Hazrat Bal martyrs, incarcerated JKLF chairman said that Shaheed Sidiqi sahib was a religious scholar and a man of wisdom who strived and sacrificed his life for the freedom of Kashmir. Sidiqi sahib will also be remembered for his philanthropy and work in the field of education and Islam. He said that Shaheed Shabir Sideequi changed the course of history and left his mark on it.  JKLF chairman while reiterating the call for a complete boycott of upcoming elections said that Kashmiris should remember the sacrifices rendered by our great martyrs and stay away from election drama. He said that participation of any kind in Indian elections is like disregarding the sacrifices of these great martyrs. Meanwhile a prayer meeting in connection with the martyrdom day of Ashfaq Majeed wani, Shabir Sidiqi, doctor Abdul Ahad Guru and advocate Jalil Andrabi and other martyrs was held at Mazar I Shuhada Eid Gah today. Led by JKLF vice chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt, a large number of people and admirers of great martyrs participated in the prayer meeting. Rich tributes were paid to the martyrs. At the end a prayers meeting was held for martyrs of Jammu Kashmir. Various resistance leaders including Shakil Ahmad Bakhshi, Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, Ghulam Nabi Darzi and others were also present on the occasion. Father of Shaheed I Kashmir Jenab Abdul Majeed Wani and Brother Ilyas Majeed Wani, along with brothers of Shaheed Shabir Sideequi jenab Syed Gulzar Ahmad Sideequi and Syed Mushtaq Ahmad Sideequi were also present in the prayers meetings.
