Asks Pakistan not to declare G-B as fifth province
Srinagar, Mar 16 : United Jihad Council chief Syed Salahudin has appealed to the people in Kashmir to boycott the upcoming by-elections for two parliamentary seats in the Valley.
The UJC chief has also asked Pakistan not to declare Gilgit-Baltistan as it fifth province as it will weaken the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir at the United Nations.
In an emailed statement to KNS, Hizb spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain said that Salahudin presided over an “important” UJC meeting.
“Participating in elections and result-less negotiations will be an act of treason with the sacrifices of the nation. Post-Burhan Wani’s martyrdom, the freedom movement of Kashmir has achieved an impetus in the world. India by holding elections will show the world that people in Kashmir trust the democracy of the India and will propagate that Kashmiris are accepting the so-called accession by voting,” the UJC chief was quoted by the spokesman as saying.
“Besides elections, Indian agencies are busy in wooing some people within the Hurriyat leadership for useless dialogue. Such dialogue with the Modi-led government is treason with the sacrifices and the intifada post-Burhan martyrdom,” the UJC chief said.
“It is the responsibility of the people in Kashmir to boycott the elections,” he added.
The UJC chief asked the Pakistan not to declare the Gilgit-Baltistan as fifth province of the country as such step would impact the Kashmir dispute at the United Nations and will give India a legal and moral pretext to lay claim on Kashmir.
The UJC chief also paid tributes to the militants and the girl killed in Kupwara gunfight on Wednesday. (KNS)
