Srinagar March, 31: IRP 8th Bn Manasbal organized two debate competitions on “Drug abuse-a menace” and “Global Warming” at Government Degree College Sumbal. Principal GDC Sumbal Shri Nasreen Malik was the chief guest on both the occasions.

        The first debate was held on “Drug abuse-a menace” between Government Degree College Sumbal and Government Degree College Bandipora. In the debate competition, all the three positions were secured by GDC Sumbal. Rayees Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Salam Dar, Shahnaza Javaid daughter of Javaid Ahmad Hurra and Shah Mehreen Peerzada daughter of Peerzada Khursheed Ahmad of GDC Sumbal bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. A skit on drug abuse in the society was also presented by GDC Sumbal on the occasion.
        The second debate on “Global Warming” was held between the students of Hr. Sec Schools of Sumbal, Hajin and Naidkhai areas. Mubashir Nisar son of Nisar-ul-Kareem and Syed Iqra Rashid daughter of Rashid-ud-din of New Green Land Sr Sec School secured 1st and 2nd positions while Mohammad Fayaz Malla son of Hafeez-ul-lah Malla of Govt. Hr Sec School Gadakhud bagged 3rd position.
        The chief guest along with Commandant IRP 8th Bn distributed the cash prizes and trophies to the winners, besides mementos to the chief guest and jury members.
        Among others Principal GDC Bandipora Professor Riyaz Qareshi, ZEO Sumbal Shri Sheikh Zulfkar Azad and other Police and civil officers were present on the occasion.
