SRINAGAR|MAR 28: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday lashed out at the opposition National Conference for polarizing the environment in Kashmir ahead of by-polls for two Lok Sabha seats in the Valley.
In a statement here the BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir said, “The NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah is playing a communal card to lure the voters.”
Jehangir said, “It seems Dr Farooq has forgotten that when he was the union minister he used to sing bhajans and participate in the religious functions to prove his secular character.”
The BJP spokesman said, “Today Dr Farooq is talking about Jihad and Azadi. He is doing so to just seek votes. Dr Farooq is trying to polarize the environment for his electoral gains and is trying his best to malign the image of BJP.
He cannot digest the fact that people of India irrespective of colour, caste, creed and religion are voting for BJP. The path breaking initiatives taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi have put India on the path of prosperity and progress. The rise of BJP has decimated parties like Congress and National Conference, who believed in family Raaj only.”
Jehangir said, “The NC president needs to be reminded that he joined hands with the BJP to get his son (Omar Abdullah) inducted into the cabinet of then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.”
“Dr Farooq Abdullah has seen the writing on the wall and he knows that history is going to repeat itself. He has understood that he would again lose the forthcoming parliamentary polls from Srinagar as he lost during 2014,” Jehangir said.
He said that Dr Farooq can no more hoodwink the people of Kashmir as he stands exposed before them. “Masses know it very well that NC President changes his colour like a chameleon and he cannot be trusted. People of Kashmir have written him off,” Jehangir added. (PTK)
