Fierce encounter leaves two militant dead in North Kashmir

Kupwara, March 15: The gun fight that raged between militants and government forces has left two militants dead so far while according to sources the encounter is still in progress as reinforcement has been called to comb the area.
    Defense sources told Fast Kashmir that Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group of Jammu Kashmir Police cordoned off Kalaroos area of frontier district Kupwara after they received inputs about the presence of militants there.
     “As we tried to zero in, the hiding militants resorted to indiscriminate firing that resulted in the injuries of an SOG man. The Forces retaliated and in the ensuing battle two militants have been killed so far,” said an official. 
     He said that the bodies of the militants are lying at the encounter site and their identity has not been ascertained yet. “The wounded policeman is stable. The operation is still in progress and all efforts are on to flush out the hiding militants,”  he said.
