Srinagar, Mar 29: Democratic Liberation Party chairman Hashim Qureshi Wednesday said the youth in Kashmir should struggle for the freedom but they should take such steps that favour the nation.
While regretting the killing of three civilian youth in Chadoora, he appealed religious preachers and other pro-Kashmir people to come forward so that the youth don’t get killed during encounters.
In a statement to KNS, he said that no-where in the world does police or army spare those who pelt stones on them during operations and encounters.
“Should we not discuss and debate that we should not fight in such a way where our youth get killed in fields and on roads?” he asked.
“Have we succeeded in saving any militant in the last year by protesting and pelting stones during encounters? When police and army are fighting militants and when civilians pelt stones on them, they get the moral right to fire towards the civilians,” he said.
He said: “A well informed person told me that ‘few days ago in a Hurriyat meeting one of the leaders has asked another leader as to how should they convey to the people not to go near encounter sites. But the other leader has replied to him that militants will get angry with them”. (KNS)
