Srinagar, Mar 18: Expressing serious concern over the continuous house arrest of Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his Nageen residence, Hurriyat spokesman has termed the action of government as an act of political vendetta.
The spokesman said that government was time and again placing Mirwaiz under house arrest thereby imposing curbs and restrictions on his social, religious and political activities. He said that Mirwaiz who is the religious chief cleric of Kashmir, has been barred from offering even Friday prayers, adding, it amounts to direct interference in the religious affairs of Mirwaiz and Muslims.
Hurriyat spokesman has also condemned the continuous house arrest of senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza. He said that the government was stopping the Hurriyat leader from doing peaceful politics, adding, such an action is undemocratic and dictatorial.
The spokesman has also denounced the arrest of JKLF chairman Yasin Malik. He said that resistance leadership was being put behind bars time and again which was highly deplorable. (KNS)
