Srinagar//26th March 2017// Incarcerating thousands of youth especially students and resistance leaders and activists in the name of peace and democracy has yet again revealed the ugly face of Indian democracy in Jammu Kashmir. Arresting fathers and brothers in place of their political activist sons a show of police cruelty and double speak in Kashmir. This was stated by the incarcerated chairman of Jammu Kashmir liberation front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik while strongly condemning the spree of arrests in whole of Kashmir especially south Kashmir. Terming the spree of arrest as mockery of democracy, JKLF jailed chairman said that thousands of young boys especially students and political activists have been arrested, raided and are thousands have been forced to go underground by police oppression that is on high in Kashmir in the name of so-called elections. He said that one fails to understand that what kind of democracy Indians and their stooges are talking and practicing when they are not ready to listen to or tolerate any opposite voices and act only to suppress people’s voices by killing, injuring, arresting, intimidating and oppressing. While referring to recent spree of arrests in Islamabad, Pulwama, Kulgam, Srinagar and other areas ,JKLF chairman said that at many places like Nowhata, fathers and other relatives have been arrested in place of their political activists sons and relatives. He said that recently police Chief Doctor Ved after assuming power boasted about giving political space to peaceful activities and also was giving sermons of not involving families into political or other battles. What is the crime of parents and families of political activists who are being harassed, arrested in place of their kith and kin and humiliated by police and isn’t this moral bankruptcy of police to harass families of political activists? Reiterating the call for a complete boycott of upcoming Indian election drama in Srinagar and Islamabad, JKLF chairman asked people to remember their sacrifices, martyrs, those injured and blinded and also thousands who are being oppressed in jails and police stations and keep away from casting votes and participating in these farce elections that are detrimental to our cause and interests.
