Jammu,  March 26: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two more suspects involved in snatching an AK-47 service rifle from a police constable late Saturday evening.

“We have arrested two more accused. They are being interrogated. We are looking at the incident from all the angles,” IGP Jammu S D Jamwal said.

Constable Mohammad Hanief (50) was attacked by two youth last evening. One of the suspects decamped with the service rifle of the constable while another was arrested.


The police constable was deputed as Personal Security Official (PSO) to Maulana Mohammad Akhtar, chairnman Anjuman Minahaj-e-Rasool.

The IGP said about four to five youth had planned the attack. “Two motorcycles have also been seized,” he said.

Police had last night arrested Masood Ahmad of Ratnipora Shopian.

An alert has been sounded in Jammu as the weapon has still not been recovered.
