Says election process ‘a futile exercise’

Srinagar, Mar 27: Senior Hurriyat (G) leader and JK Insaf Party chairman, G A Gulzar Monday supported the election boycott call given by Hurriyat.
Terming the election process as ‘a futile exercise’, Gulzar ina statement issued to KNS appealed the people to remain aloof from it.
“In the light of the recent peoples uprising the statement also appealed the world community to come forward to resolve the long pending Kashmir Dispute,” he said.
The statement elaborated that after the ravaged picture of world war 2nd, the world community pledged to fight collectively for the highest human values like, peace, justice and right to self determination as a matter of basic human right, irrespective of any color, caste or religion. “But, it is unfortunate that the people of Kashmir are still waiting for the implementation of UN resolutions and face the worst kind of ordeal at the hands of Indian Military Might,” Gulzar added.
He expressed hope that at this critical juncture of the history, all the Hurriyat factions and all other resistance leaders and parties outside the orbit of Hurriyat shun their differences to forge a perfect and strong unity to take the movement to its logical conclusion.
Gulzar also condemned the ‘barbaric acts’ of the State authorities for the continuous detention and house arrest of the pro freedom leaders including Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Dr. Ummar Farooq, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Mohammad Ashraf Sehraie, G N Sumji, Masarat Alam Bhat, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, G M Khan Sopori, Mohammad Yousf Mir, Ab. Ahad Parrah, M Rafique Gannai, M Rustum Bhat, M Ramzan Bhat, Syed Bashir Bukhari, Ab. Hamid Mir, Muzaffar Ahmad Dar and all other incarcerated activists of freedom movement. (KNS)
