Srinagar, Mar 15: The Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday decided to field the party’s Secretary General, Mirza Sajjad Hussain Beigh from Srinagar parliamentary constituency for the upcoming by-polls while no candidate has been chosen to contest the by-elections from Anantnag seat.
The party addressed a presser today at a local hotel here in which they decided to field Mirza Sajjad from the Srinagar parliamentary constituency for the upcoming by-polls.
However, the party didn’t announce its candidate from the Anantnag seat.
Mirza while talking to told reporters here said, “We will focus to highlight the plights of the people of Kashmir especially the media fraternity.”
He said that his party will try to highlight the sufferings faced by the media fraternity. “We will focus on highlighting the issues related to the media fraternity including press club and other things,” he said.
“We are also aiming to act as a bridge between the public and the government in order to address the issues properly,” he added.
Notably, the Srinagar segment will go to polls on April 9 to be followed by Anantnag segment on April 12. (KNS)
