Also inaugurates Addl. Block of Rajouri Distt. Hospital, JK Bank Zonal office
Rajouri, Mar 14: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, who was on a day’s visit to the area today, inaugurated the Nursing College at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) and the additional block of District Hospital here. She also inaugurated the zonal office of the JK Bank during her visit.
Interacting with the students on the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed happiness that with today’s inauguration all the three nursing Colleges set up by the BGSBU have become functional. She said with nursing stream having a good global employability response, the Government intends to promote nursing education in the State to provide quality human resource in the sector. Additionally, she said, with more Medical Colleges and AIIMS coming up in the State, there would be huge demand of paramedic which would be met by the alumni of these institutes.
On the occasion, Mehbooba Mufti, was informed that all the three Nursing Colleges set up by the BGSBU at Jammu, Kishtwar and main Rajouri campus have become functional with a cumulative intake capacity of 130 students.
Briefing the Chief Minister, who is also the Chancellor of BGSBU, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mussarat Javed said the university runs 25 academic programmes and this year eight new programmes besides some skill development programmes have been added to the curriculum.
Earlier, the Chief Minister threw open the additional block of District Hospital, Rajouri built over a cost of Rs. 4 crore.
The Chief Minister went round various sections of the new block including ENT, OPD, Dermatology, Dental units and interacted with the staff. She directed maintaining highest quality of sanitation in the hospital.
On the occasion, Mehbooba Mufti also reviewed the pace of work on the upcoming Medical College at Rajouri. She impressed upon the concerned officers to pace up the work and ensure that all civil works are completed within time so that the process for faculty and staff could begin. She directed setting up banking facility in the Hospital premises for the convenience of patients and their attendants.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the zonal office and Currency
Chest of JK Bank at Rajouri built over a cost of Rs. 30 crore. The zonal office is expected to cater to the customer needs of 113 business units across Pir Panjal region where the Bank has a business of Rs. 3800 crore.
