Anantnag, March 27: At least two policemen were injured when unidentified militants attacked the house of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf Farooq Andrabi at Dooru in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on late Sunday night. Militants also managed to decamp with at least four weapons belonging to the security guards of the Minister.

Police sources said that a group of militants opened fire at the ancestral house of Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf and MLA Dooru Farooq Andrabi. “The militants resorted to heavy firing on the guard picket. The fire was retaliated by the policemen deployed there, triggering a brief gunfight in which two policemen sustained injuries.”

A police official confirmed the weapon snatching and said that two cops were also injured. “Weapon snatching has also taken place. We are ascertaining how many weapons have been snatched,” he said. “Injured policemen were rushed to the hospital and cordon has been established,” he said and added that at the time of attack only the parents of the Minister were present in the house.
