Days after he was made Vice Chairman of J&K Minerals Ltd by the government, Mir Bashir has refused to join on the post citing his engagement with political activities in his Assembly segment of Ganderbal.
Bashir, who was defeated by senior NC leader Mian Altaf from Ganderbal in 2014 assembly elections, said that he would not join due to his busy schedule with political activities and with his workers.
“I am a foot soldier of PDP. Whatever the party and its president decides, I will abide by that. Rumours have been floated that I am not happy with the post which I was assigned. I had not joined yet, how could I have resigned,” Bashir told KNS.
“But I will not join because of my busy schedule with political activities and helping to address the grievances of people in my constituency,” he added.
However, sources told KNS that Bashir is not contended with the VC post as he “wants a bigger” post than VC of PSU.
More than a dozen political activists and leaders of PDP, BJP and PC were appointed as vice chairmen of various Public Sector Undertakings by the PDP-BJP government last week ahead of the Parliament by-elections scheduled on April 9 and 12.
