Prays for stability, prosperity of Country
Srinagar, Mar 23: Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continues to be under house arrest, greeted the people of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan day and prayed for stability and prosperity of the country.
In a statement issued to KNS, Mirwaiz said the creation of Pakistan was an assertion of the political and religious identity of the Muslims of the subcontinent, who had greatly suffered at the hands of the British colonial rule and had to make huge sacrifices for their independence.
Mirwaiz said it is incumbent upon the Government of Pakistan and its people to utilise their resources and work towards a building a strong, peaceful egalitarian, tolerant and progressive nation as was the dream of Quaid-e-Azam for the nation.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat (M) spokesman strongly condemned the arrests and house arrests of resistance leaders including Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Geelani, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Mukhtar Ahmad waza and others to prevent them from attending the Pakistan day function at the Pakistan high Commission in Delhi. The spokesman said that stopping Hurriyat leaders from attending the function shows the authoritarian and repressive mindset of the rulers and was a senseless measure.
Paying rich tributes to the victims of Pathribal and Barakpora Islamabad on their 17th martyrdom anniversary, the spokesman said that massacres of Kashmiris across the length and breadth of the valley by the Indian forces are a testimony to its State policy of annihilation as a means of continuing and consolidating its occupation.
