Pulwama shuts against militant killings
Pulwama, March 27: Thousands of people on Monday took part in the last rites of two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants- Rayees Kachroo and Farooq Ahmad Hurra, who were killed in a shootout in Padgampora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.
The funeral prayers of Shahbaz Shafi alias Rayees Kachroo were offered four times at his ancestral Belov village to accommodate thousands of people who had turned up from different villages of twin districts of Shopian and Pulwama.
Massive protests erupted in Belov and Nazneenpora-ancestral village of Farooq Ahmad Hurra,after the duo was laid to rest.
Rayeees, 21, had been active in the militant ranks since June last year while Hurra, also 21, had joined Hizb in August last year, according to police.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted between protesters and government forces in Belov village of Pulwama, amid a complete shutdown against the killing of these two militants. Reports said that all the shops and business establishments remained shut while transport also remained off the roads. Eyewitnesses told CNS that shortly after the culmination of last rites of the slain militant, protest and clashes erupt in Belo area resulting in the injuries of at least five protesters. (CNS)
