Nayeem Khan condemns arrest spree

Srinagar, March 20: Senior Hurriyat leader and Jammu Kashmir National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan has strongly condemned the arrest spree in nook and corner of the valley ahead of the so called elections. He has also condemned the caging of resistance leaders and restrictions placed on the said leadership for preventing them from participating in the political, social and religious programmes and activities.

      In a statement to CNS, Nayeem Khan said that the Jammu Kashmir has been turned into a police state where people are denied all civil, political and democratic rights. He said the pro-freedom leadership which represents the aspirations and the sentiments of the people has either been locked in their houses or lodged in police stations and jails. He said that ahead f the shame elections which are conducted under the shadow of gun have no relevance. India is using tactics of oppression and suppression to crush the voice of dissent in Kashmir.

   Nayeem Khan said that a fresh arrest spree has been started in the valley Kashmir in particular and common people are terrified by the activities of the men in uniform who create baseless cases against the youth and people who think about their political rights. This has created a situation where parents are worried about the future of their wards because they are being closely watched and monitored by the security grid of the disputed region. The National Front chairman said that curbing common voices by using men in uniform unfolds the intentions of the ruling class which after consultation with New Delhi is busy implementing the Doval doctrine in letter and spirit in Kashmir. The doctrine recommends crushing pro freedom struggle with the brute force without any space for dialogue and political engagement. He warned that with this brutality and inhuman approach India could only achieve the silence of the graveyard. However, peace can only be achieved by resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the people, Khan said and added that New Delhi must understand this simple fact and shun its illogical stance on Kashmir.

     Meanwhile, Nayeem Khan has expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of the mother of Syed Faiz Naqashbandi. Nayeem Khan expressed his heartfelt condolences with Naqashbandhi. He said that one more son the soil lost his mother while being in exile. Nayeem Khan extended his sympathies with all members of the bereaved family and offered special prayers for the deceased soul.
