Anantnag, Mar 26: Terming Congress-National Conference alliance as most unholy for Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party Sunday said that the combine has always brought miseries and sufferings for the people and was responsible for the economic and development deficit, the state was facing.
The party held a marathon meeting of all the legislators, former legislators, district presidents and zonal presidents here today to review the ongoing campaign for parliamentary polls. The party has fielded Tassaduq Hussain Mufti as its candidate for the by-polls from the constituency.
The meeting among others was attended by Vice President Sartaj Madani, Ministers Abdul Rehman Veeri, Haseeb Drabu, Zahoor Ahmed Mir, Member Parliament, Nazeer Ahmed Laway, MLAs, Aijaz Mir, Advocate Mohd Yusuf Butt, Khalil Bund, Mushataq Ahmed, former legislators Peerzada Mansoor, Rafi Mir, Nizam Din Butt, Sajad Mufti and all the District and Zonal Presidents.
Addressing the meeting Sartaj Madani said that that the state has suffered unprecedented crisis due to self centric policies of the National Conference-Congress”. “It is a historical fact that opportunist alliance between National Conference and Congress has always proved disastrous for the State of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
He said PDP is having stake in peace and stability as the party has demonstrated it during its brief tenure in the government when a perceptible change on the ground was brought about not only in the state but also efforts were made to improve relations between India and Pakistan.“NC and Congress have been thriving on violence as they know people are not with them anymore and have been looking for the ways to turn the situation ugly because it suits them,” he said.
Launching a scathing attack on NC-Congress coalition, Revenue Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri said that during the combine together while being in power has spoiled the peaceful atmosphere which was created by the previous PDP led coalition regime.
“They are opportunists who only know how to create unrest and play with the emotions of people. History speaks about their misdeeds and ill-will towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, Veeri said.
Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drau said that the parties together completely destroyed the fiscal structure of state. “The financial morass and unemployment the state was facing was the outcome of the policies of these two parties”, he said urging the party workers to reach out to the people with the policies and programmes of the party while garnering vote and support for the party candidate, Tassaduq Hussain Mufti.
Meanwhile, Minister for Rural Development Abdul Haq Khan alongwith Abdul Gaffar Sofi, MLA Abdul Majeed Paddar, General Secretary Rafi Mir and MLA Kokernag Abdul Rahim Rather held series of election meetings in their constituencies. They urged the people to come out in large number to vote in favour of the PDP candidate. (KNS)
