Srinagar, Mar 21: Taking a strong exception to recent circulars on implementation of new advertisement policy senior National Conference leader and MAL Sonawari has in statement issues here on Wednesday asked the state government to immediately stop implementing new advertisement policy and asking local newspapers to furnish details about their salaried employees and circulation.
Talking to KNS Lone said “asking newspapers to furnish details about their salaried employees and circulation is tantamount to curtailing the freedom of Press. This is unwarranted intervention in the working of newspapers”.
Asking Government to inordinately stop issuing circulars and implementing new advertisement policy Lone called upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba MuftI to personally intervene into the matter and take all stake holders on board for amending some controversial clauses of new advertisement policy as promised by her on the floor of the assembly.
Saying that by co opting with DAVP for implementing DAVP’s new advertisement policy the state government is tress passing it’s institutional and administrative jurisdiction. He called upon the state government to focus on amending its own new advertisement policy and not to interfere in the implementation of central government’s new advertisement policy which is the domain of the central government’s department of Audio Visual Publicity (DAVP).
