Pakistan women’s ODI captain Sana Mir has called for ban and punishment without any mercy for players involved in corrupt activities, Dawn News reported.
“Whoever disrespects the green-shirt should be banned and punished without any mercy,” she said while talking to reporters at National Stadium Karachi, where Pakistan’s women team is attending a training camp.
Mir highlighted the sensitivity of the issue and talked about how badly these fixing incidents have damaged the country’s image all around the world.
“This is a very serious issue and should be dealt with accordingly. The players found guilty of fixing should not be allowed to represent Pakistan again,” she said.
Pakistan cricket was well back on track after the embarrassment of 2010 spot fixing incident where the then skipper Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif were convicted for their mal act.
But, this PSL spot fixing row, which involves Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Irfan and Shahzeb Hasan, is once again denting Pakistan’s image.
The veteran Pakistan’s female cricketer had all praises for the 42-year old Test skipper, Misbah Ul Haq for rebuilding Pakistan’s stature in the world of cricket after 2010 saga.
“Misbah played a great role in removing the stigma of spot-fixing from Pakistan cricket after taking over the captaincy,” she said. ARY
