Srinagar, Mar 21: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief and Anantnag candidate for parliament by-polls, G A Mir on Tuesday said that he is confident to emerge as winner in the by-elections slated to be held on April 12.
As soon as the NC-Congress meeting concluded at Khanabal housing colony, Mir told KNS correspondent, Tassaduq Rashid that he is confident to emerge as winner in the parliament by-polls.
“The people in South Kashmir especially of Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian and Anantnag districts have earlier chosen their right candidates in the past and I hope the people will once again exercise their franchise to emerge to choose the right candidate for them,” Mir said, adding that the people on the ground are alienated with the government as this regime is not people friendly and have raised several anti-people issues.
Taking a dig on incumbent regime, Mir alleged, “The PDP has managed to recruit their own people in Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Tourism and floriculture departments thereby have ignored the deserving candidates and have left them to suffer.”
He said that such moves taken by the PDP-BJP dispensation has resulted in chaos among the people. “I hope that the people will come out to exercise their franchise to choose their right candidate,” he added.
Meanwhile, NC General Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar told KNS that the government has failed on all fronts.
Sagar alleged that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath was not the deserving candidate. “The same things are ongoing in the state Jammu and Kashmir due to the alliance of PDP with BJP. What can we expect from the party who has chosen the undeserving candidate as UP CM,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sagar told KNS that they have directed all the district presidents and other workers in South Kashmir to ensure the win of JKPCC Mir in the by-polls.
It is worth to mention here that several NC leaders including Ali Muhammad Sagar, Sakeena Itoo, Altaf Ahmad Kaloo, Abdul Majid Bhat, Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Reyaz Ahmad Khan, Farooq Ahmad Ganie held meeting with JKPCC chief at Khanabal housing colony.
According to the KNS correspondent, following the meeting with JKPCC chief, the NC leaders held a separate meeting at MLA Pahalgam’s residence where they discussed the future strategy for the by-polls. (KNS)
