World TB Day observed SKIMS Medical College at Bemina, Srinagar

Srinagar, March 24: “World Tuberculosis Day” was observed at SKIMS Medical College Auditorium at Bemina, Srinagar wherein poster presentation, quiz competition etc. was held in which  number of students participated. The function was addressed by the Chief Guest, Prof. A. G. Ahangar, Director SKIMS & Ex-officio Secretary to Government who emphasized on the need for awareness of  general public regarding tuberculosis and its eradication. He appreciated and lauded the dynamic and result oriented efforts of the Principal, Prof. Reyaz Ahmad Untoo in overcoming the inherited problems of SKIMS Medical College in respect of academics, infrastructure and patient care. He ensured full cooperation and support to the College from the SKIMS University to make it Centre of Excellence.

        The Principal, SKIMS Medical College, Prof. Reyaz Ahmad Untoo while speaking on the occasion appreciated the positive attitude of  Prof. A. G. Ahangar for his efforts  in bringing the post flood infrastructure reconstructive project of SKIMS Medical College and its associated hospital  and hoped that the construction of new 250 bedded hospital complex, College Block and Lab. Block at SKIMS Medical College, Bemina initiated by visionary leader late Jenab Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Saheb whose  cherished dream will become a reality soon. Prof. Reyaz Ahmad Untoo, the Principal also spoke about infrastructure and manpower development of the College so that it becomes an independent unit as has been envisaged in various Governing Body decisions from time to time.

        Prof. Ab. Wahid Khan, Chairman, Academic Cell deliberated on psycho-dynamics of Tuberculosis. Dr. Mohammd Rafiq Mir, Associate Prof. & I/C HOD Community Medicine in a power point presentation gave description of National Programme for Control of Tuberculosis and its various revisions from time to time and current need of control and eradication of  Tuberculosis from the State and the Country.
