Foil sit-in, seminar on plight of prisoners

Srinagar, Mar 12: To foil tomorrow’s scheduled one day sit-in cum seminar announced by united resistance leadership against oppression unleashed on Kashmiri inmates, Police arrested Chairman Jammu Kashmir liberation front (JKLF) Mohammad Yasin Malik from his residence today evening.
According to a statement issued to KNS, Police in large numbers raided his residence and arrested him .He was immediately shifted to central jail Srinagar. JKLF chairman is unwell from last few days because of viral infection and has been arrested in ailing condition.
A JKLF spokesman while strongly condemning his arrest , has said that so-called rulers and their authorities are preaching high morals on daily basis but in fact have resorted to worst kind of immorality and aggression.
He said that united resistance leadership has announced a most peaceful sit-in cum seminar in which voices will be raised against the oppression unleashed against inmates, but the propagators of battle of ideas could not tolerate even this kind of peaceful program and have resorted to use of police violence against it.
He said that even police authorities recently announced to provide space to political programs but it appears that rulers and their occupational authorities only know the job of choking space and suppressing people’s voices by military and police might.
He said that choking space on peaceful voices is undemocratic and unethical and this is like legitimizing and promoting violence which his highly condemnable. (KNS)
