BUDGAM, MARCH 31:- To review the arrangements made for phase-2 of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme scheduled to be held on April 2, 2017, a meeting of District Task Force (DTF) Committee was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Mir Altaf Ahmad here today.
The DDC directed the concerned officers to focus on high risk areas including slums and nomadic populations where chances of polio are on the higher side and people should be made aware about immunization programme. He stressed the officers of Health, ICDS, Social Welfare and Education Departments to put in coordinated efforts to make Budgam a polio free district.
The DDC stressed for organizing special awareness campaign by involving NGO’s to generate maximum awareness among the people regarding Pulse Polio Campaign in the district. He urged the concerned to ensure cent percent target achievement in phase-2 IPPI, 2017. He also directed the Chief Medical Officer, Budgam to monitor the whole anti polio drive.
During the meeting, Chief Medical Officer informed that as many as 568 vaccination booths would be setup in different parts of the district to cover 103359 lakh children in the age group of 0-5 years, for vaccination. He also informed that besides deploying 2252 Health workers/ASHAs/AWWs, 113 supervisors and 10 district monitors are being deployed in the district for the campaign. It was also informed that 9 transit camps are also being set up in the district for this purpose.
