Aryans Group organises a National Conference on Latest Research and Innovations in Mechanical Engineering

The mechanical engineering department of Aryans College of Engineering organised a National Conference on “Latest Research and Innovations in Mechanical Engineering” at its campus. Dr. Alakesh Manna, HOD, PEC, Chandigarh was the chief Guest while Dr. Prahlad Garg (Assistant Professor), Punjabi University, Patiala; Er. Satinder Pal Singh, Project Engineer, Bechtel Oil & Gas Corp. New Delhi; S. Sarbjit Singh (Assistant Professor), PEC, Chandigarh were the speakers on the occasion.

Dr. Alakesh Manna while emphasising the importance of mechanical engineering said that Mechanical engineers can be at the forefront of developing new technology for environmental remediation, farming and food production, housing, transportation, safety, security, healthcare, water resources etc.

Dr. Prahlad Garg while speaking about the future mechanical engineers said that mechanical engineers are upbeat about the future for their profession, they are less certain that their skills will be adequate to meet global challenges in the coming 20 years due to the less involvement of the students into industrial exposure, practical knowledge, experimentation etc. 

Dr. Sarbjit Singh, while interacting on the scope of courses under mechanical engineering in today’s industrial world said that foundational tools and techniques, such as 3-D CAD, computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, lifecycle analysis and project management, were all identified as growth areas.

Er. Satinder Pal Singh said that to combat key global problems, engineers expect to receive more interdisciplinary training and to work with team members from outside the engineering profession. He further said that engineering students require additional competencies and skills outside the offerings in current degree programs. He laid emphasis on skills related to globalization, borderless markets and economics to the highest. 

While concluding the session speakers gave tips to enhance the communications skills such as business writing, technical writing, public speaking and presentation preparation will be even more critical as engineers work in and among varied groups.

Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group; Prof. B.S Sidhu, Registrar, Aryans Group; Mr. Anil Kuman, HOD, Mechanical Dept; Mr. Nishant Kumar, Lecturer; Mr. Amanpreet Singh; Mr Jaswinder Singh etc were also present on the occasion.
