Banihal, Apr 19: The Banihal unit of National Conference on Wednesday held strong protests in the town against the PDP-BJP Government in plunging Jammu and Kashmir into unprecedented crisis with people feeling scarry and insecure.

Addressing protesters, District President, Sajjad Shaheen said the people have been pushed to the wall, as a result of failure of the government in safeguarding their lives and creating a peaceful atmosphere in the state.
He expressed anguish over deteriorating law and order situation and said the life has come to grinding halt, the economy is in disarray and people are made to suffer on all fronts.
Shaheen said the people are feeling betrayed with the coalition partners having failed in meeting their urges and aspirations by not initiating resolution of the political issues confronted to the state.
Later, a meeting of the party functionaries was held in which the participants expressed anguish over atrocities being committed upon peace-loving citizens. They said the coalition government is suppressing the voice of people by using excessive force, which is evident in various parts of the state.
The meeting urged the President of India to dismiss the present dispensation for its failure on all fronts and sought imposition of the Governor’s Rule for restoring peace and normalcy across the state. They said that the present government has lost the confidence and trust of the people.
The meeting was attended by all the block and halqa presidents of the district and prominent functionaries of the Banihal constituency. (KNS)
