Srinagar, Apr 02: During surprise check of SFC coupe in Co93/NL jointly by Forest Protection Force Kupwara and Territorial staff, jointly seized 8 nos =87cfts in sfc coupe 93nl. Case against State Forest Corporation has been framed. Illicitly cut timber.
Was later on handed over to State Forest Corporation (SFC) staff posted there. Case is being investigated by Forest officials.
In another operation in Compartment No 82/NL Assistant Director of Forest Protection Force led a joint team of FPF and Forest officials in Astan nar area of Compartment No 82 and seized 12 cfts illicit timber (Deodar) and two quintals of illicit firewood. Forest officials have launched manhunt in the said forests to nab the culprits.
Forest Protection Force Special team from Reporting centre Woovera along with Range officer North Lolab seized sawn timber(15 cft s) in Compartment No 84/NL. Search and combing operations to nab the culprits and for further damage detection/prevention is being carried out in the affected areas by Forest Protection Force personnel.
In another major offensive against timber mafia Forest Protection Force launched massive search operations in large forest areas of Rajwar forests in Langate Forest Division.
During these combing operations about 25cft illicit timber in sawn Form of Deodar species were seized from Compartment No 40 of Rajwar Range and brought to safer place.Later on Forest Protection Force camped in the area and searches were going on till last reports came in.
In South Kashmir Yesterday Forest PROTECTION Force Anantnag unit seized kail axe fashioned 7 nos 37cfts in comptt 99 kuthar forest Range of Anantnag Forest Division What is territorial staff doing? As per sources damage has taken in league with concerned territorial staff. DFO Anantnag later on placed four forest officials under suspension and ordered inquiry in the case.
Joint Director Forest Protection Force Kashmir Irfan Ali Shah said” we will not spare anybody doing damage to forests. We will act even against our own personnel if found in connivance with the mafia. I have ordered for high alert in North and South Kashmir”. (KNS)
