Islamabad: 17 April: The Chairman of Ummat e Islami today denounced the fear that is being created by the state. Mirwaiz Qazi Ahmed Yasir said that the state has declared open war against the people of the state and people are being threatened and beaten for dissent. The chairman of Ummat e Islami said, “Students who were registering their peaceful protest against the barbarism that has been leveled against people of Kashmir, however the armed forces did not allow the same and was responded to by violent protests” Mirwaiz Yasir said. He said that the state is choking space for political solution and it is creating a situation of chaos in the entire region. “The peaceful Girls’ protest was dealt with brute force in Islamabad and many girl students were injured, in Dooru College the police swung to action and more than four students were injured, in Kulgam three students were injured while in Shopian more than 4 students were injured in Police action. The students of Islamabad College were disallowed to move towards the main town” Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said. The continuous failures of political system have created strong gigantic undercurrents. Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said that the dissent should be tolerated and polity be given a chance. Mirwaiz Yasir said that Indian state has to initiate a meaningful dialogue with all the sections of the society and provide space to a dissent otherwise the world has been accepting the political narrative that Ummat e Islami has maintained post 2010 Uprising “The more the political space is shrinked, the more violent forms of resistance will be.”
The chairman of Ummat e Islami appealed the international human rights bodies to intervene in the appalling situation created in Kashmir where even international laws have been violated as humans have been used as shields. Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said it is time for the international bodies to seriously help Kashmiri masses out of the war crimes and harassment they have to deal with on a day to day basis.
