Srinagar, Apr 18: Paying tributes to the slain leader of Hurriyat and a known freedom fighter, S Hameed on his 19th anniversary for his contributions towards the freedom movement, the Hurriyat (M) Tuesday stated that it was the joint responsibility of people and resistance leadership to take forward the struggle with commitment and resolve till it reaches its logical conclusion and that would be the best tribute to the leader.
Asserting that S Hameed played an instrumental role in forming the APHC, the spokesman in a statement issued to KNS stated that Kashmir was standing at a crucial juncture and it was essential that everybody of us should have complete resolve and uniformity of approach towards the Kashmir struggle.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Hurriyat (M) and Awami Action Committee (AAC) led by Youth president Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi held a prayer session at Iddgah martyrs graveyard where they paid glowing tributes to S Hameed and other martyrs of the movement.
A special prayer meeting was also held at Hurriyat headquarters Rajbagh for the martyr wherein the Hurriyat activists, workers and leaders participated and paid rich tributes to him.
Another Hurriyat delegation led by Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi visited SMHS hospital where in they inquired about the well being of the students who were injured due to the use of brutal force by the police and paramilitary forces across Kashmir. The delegates prayed for the immediate recovery of those who were injured due to fire arms.
On the direction of Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a delegation headed by the senior Hurriyat leader, G.N. Zaki visited the house of Sajad Ahmad Sheikh in Tangmarg and expressed their solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved family.
Mirwaiz also talked telephonically to the bereaved family. While expressing his condolences, he told the family that entire Kashmir stands with them in this time of grief and agony.
He further prayed for the deceased soul and said that the mission for which the martyrs are laying their lives would be taken to logical conclusion. (KNS)
