Srinagar, April 21: Jammu Kashmir Tourism bagged prestigious award in Mountain category as its pristine destination Gulmarg was voted and judged the best one in India as Mountain destination.
This award was given in a function organised by India Today Group in New Delhi where the Indian Tourism Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma was the chief guest who presented the awards in different categories.
The awardees were judged by the people across India through a well designed method and the outcome was then again evaluated by a well learned jury. Uttarkhand, West Bengal and Arunachal also were awarded in other categories. The award for JK was received by Shahnawaz Ahmed Shah OSD publicity in the Tourism Secretariat. He was accompanied by Galib Ahmed Shah Secretary RSGC Srinagar and Manav Gupta Secretary Jammu Tawi Golf Course.
The function which started with the welcome address by Raj Chengappa, Group editorial Director publishing of India Today Group was also attended by the Chief Minister Haryana, Tourism Minister Uttarakhand and other dignitaries.
Dr Mahesh Sharma the Union Tourism Minister delivered the keynote address followed by the award ceremony. (CNS)
