Srinagar, Apr 07: The Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Friday reiterated its appeal to the people of south and central Kashmir to stay away from the elections and said we cannot betray the blood of martyrs.
In a statement issued to KNS, DFP general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari said, “These elections are sham. Those who used to raise hue and cry over the oppression are now joining hands with the killers of Muslims. They are political opportunists and legalise every suppressive measure after assuming power”.
Terming the PDP and NC as two sides of the same coin and servants of New Delhi, Tari said their lust for power only increases with each passing day. “We must seriously ponder over it and boycott these elections lest we become a joke in the eyes of the international community,” he said.
Moulana said vote is a precious entity and these killers don’t deserve it. “They seek votes in the name of development but after coming to power unleash a reign of terror among people; kill, maim, and blind them. If we vote the pro-India parties, our martyrs will never forgive us. Stay away from poll process and Azadi will be near,” he said.
Meanwhile, Moulana Tari strongly condemned the continuous house arrest of Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani, Shabir Ahmad Shah, and other pro-freedom leaders and activists.
“We wonder how these people are seeking votes from people after caging the entire resistance leadership. How does their conscience allow them to resort to such shameful acts?” he said.
Meanwhile, the Freedom Party activists continued distributing election boycott poster among people and urged them to stay away from elections. (KNS)
