Hyderabad, Apr 29: A Kolkata-based girl was allegedly raped by a Choreographer-cum-Event Manager and two others after confining her to a house at West Maredpally in the city, for over three days from February 15.
The main accused in the crime was arrested by the city police yesterday while four others, including a woman, who allegedly supported the accused in the crime, are absconding.
The incident came to light after the 19-year-old escaped from the clutches of the accused and narrated her plight, following which a case was registered, said North Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police B Sumathi in a statement here today.
Key suspect Preeth Shergill (39), resident of Marredpally, native of Ludhiana, was arrested and produced before the court for judicial remand here today.
The DCP said the survivor had come to the city by a flight from Kolkata on February 14 and travelled in a sharing cab to a hotel in Somajiguda, along with another suspect Pinky.
After befriending her, Pinky took the girl for sightseeing the next day in a car owned by Shergill, whom she introduced as her friend.
However, Pinky got down in the middle and Shergill took the victim to his house in West Marredpally and confined her for over three days, the police official said.
Shergill raped her and also made a nude film on his mobile phone before tying the girl to a chair.
Besides snatching cash and two gold rings from her, the main accused also chatted with his friends before committing the offence.
Shergill also asked his driver Sultan to rape the girl, when she was confined at the house. Two of his friends joined in, one of whom also raped the survivor the next day, said the DCP.
The victim, who was confined in a house, threw a packet of tissue paper into the neighbouring compound in an attempt to raise an alarm.
Fearing that they might be caught, Shergill and his driver fled from the house, asking Pinky to book a cab for the survivor to the airport.
The victim reached the airport and narrated her plight, following which a case was registered, the DCP added.
Searches are going on to nab the others, who are absconding, he said.
