Sopore, April 21: While following hurriyats peaceful protest call after friday congregational prayer Clashes erupted between the government forces and protesters in north Kashmir’s Sopore town after Friday prayers.
Protesters attempted to march from Jamia Masjid area to main Chowk and main bazaar area of town shouting pro-freedom and anti-india slogans .but were stopped by the government forces already deployed in the main Chowk.
This resulted in clashes in the area as the angry protesters pelted stone on forces that retaliated with tear smoke shells.
According to reports,soon after Friday prayers youth assembled near old Jamia Masjid area of Sopore and started shouting pro-freedom and Pro-Azadi slogans within short time the large gathering of angry youth started pelting stones on deployed forces who in turn retaliated by lobbing tear gas shells and to disperse the agitated youth.

According to reports police resorted to teargas shelling and sound grenades to quell the protests and push back the agitated youths. During that all shopkeepers move down their shutters and trafficular movement were also suspended at main chowk and main bazaar area of town clashes also spread in batpora and arampora areas where scores of youth appeared on roads and started protess against the action of government forces up on students across valley reports said’ agitated youth started pelting stones upon forces deployed in area and ensued clashes. which remain continued for many hours till evening
