Srinagar, Apr 18: Senior Hurriyat leader and Jammu Kashmir National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan on Tuesday led a high level party delegation to Mazar-e-Shuhada and paid tributes to S Hamid on his martyrdom anniversary.
According to the statement issued to KNS, “S Hamid, was arrested by government forces and killed in custody in Soura area of Srinagar one and a half decade ago.”
Remembering the politician and intellectual, Khan said that “Hamid was an icon of the freedom struggle and among the founders of All Parties Hurriyat Conference.”
“The occupied forces martyred Shaheed S Hamid at his residence at Ahmad Nagar, to damage the freedom movement on the intellectual front but time has proved that by the sacrifices of our great martyrs like Shaheed S Hamid, the freedom movement has become so strong,” Nayeem Khan said adding, “despite the dirty designs of the occupying forces the ideological heirs of the martyrs are still on path of resistance and freedom.”
Terming Hamid as ‘a leader with vision’, Khan said that he will always be remembered for his dedication, sincerity and love for freedom.
Condemning ‘atrocities’ on people especially on youth in nook and corner of the disputed region, Khan said that “the champions of the so called democracy do not allow subjugated Kashmiris even to mourn or protest.”
Khan while paying tributes to martyrs said that martyr’s blood will not go waste and time is not far when ‘occupied forces’ will leave Jammu Kashmir and people living here will bear fruit of their sacrifices.
