Srinagar, April 22: Calling for a comprehensive compensation for the farmers and orchardists of the valley who suffered extensive damages due to yesterday’s hailstorm J&K State Committee CPI (M) has urged the state government to go for immediate assessment of damages to fruit crops and disburse financial relief to the affected families.

In a statement issued here, State Secretary CPI (M), G N Malik said the hailstorm caused massive damage in villages of Kulgam District in South Kashmir where the fruit crops have been hit the worst. Mere assurances and surveys cannot satiate the interests of the affectees, he maintained and urged the government for initiating practical measures to provide timely relief to the affected orchardists and farmers.

Expressing grief over the massive damages caused to fruits, the CPI (M) leader urged the authorities to depute teams of experts to assess the losses in the affected area so that they are compensated forthwith.cns
