Srinagar, Apr 04: Bringing the mercury down, the incessant rains since the wee hours of Tuesday morning lashed Valley thereby resulted in inundation of the city roads including the commercial hub Lal Chowk.
The incessant rains since this morning brought respite to the people from the scorching heat in Kashmir.
The officials in the Meteorological (MeT) department told KNS that the weather would continue to remain wet in the next three days. “There is possibility of heavy to moderate rains till Friday,” he informed.
He informed, “A western disturbance (WD) is active over the state following which we are expecting adverse weather conditions till Thursday evening.”
He said that there is possibility of occasional sunshine as well. “The weather conditions in the Valley would improve from Saturday morning,” he added.
He informed that besides rains in plains and other hilly areas, the Gurez areas received a fresh snowfall today.
Meanwhile, the incessant rains since the wee hours of this morning resulted in the inundation of the city roads including the commercial Hub Lal Chowk.
The inundation of the roads has caused immense hardships to the commuters as well as the pedestrians, who accused the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) of ignoring their plights.
They appealed the SMC commissioner to look into the matter and redress their genuine grievances at earliest.
Meanwhile, the one way traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only road connecting Valley with rest of the country continued to ply normally despite the heavy rains in the Valley.
According to an official in the Traffic department, “The vehicles were allowed to ply towards their destinations from Srinagar-Jammu today. In case of good weather, the traffic from Jammu-Srinagar would be allowed to ply on Wednesday,” he added. (KNS)
