Regularization and salary disparity:

Medical employees to go for indefinite strike from 27 April

Srinagar, April 17: Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation Monday threatened to go for an indefinite strike from April 27 this month, if the demands of the contractual employees are not fulfilled before the said date.

Addressing a press conference here, president Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, Shabir Ahmed Langoo said it is surprising that more than 70 per cent manpower in hospitals and health centres has been hired on contractual basis and still government does nothing to mitigate the sufferings of this workforce. He said contractual employees in Health Department work on meager salaries given the fact they perform services day in day out.

“Due to poor response from administration to our multiple representations for regularizations of contractual employees, the case has been under the consideration of the High Court while despite the status quo direction from high court, the salary of the employees was stopped by GMC administration,” Shabir Ahmed Langoo said.

“Regularization of contractual employees, immediate release of the with-held salaries and removing the salary disparity are our some of the demands and if authorities fail to meet these demands, we will go for indefinite strike from April 27 this month,” he warned. (CNS)
