Banihal, Apr 14: National Conference District President, Sajjad Shaheen on Friday expressed concern over losses caused to infrastructure, private property and the crops due to recent incessant rains and sought immediate survey of the damages so that the affected people are compensated.
“The entire district of Ramban in general and Banihal assembly constituency in particular was hit by the rains, causing enormous sufferings to the people”, Shaheen according to the statement issued to KNS said while interacting with the vendors at Banihal Vegetable Market this evening.
Shaheen expressed solidarity with the vegetable vendors, who have suffered huge losses and emphasized on the concerned governmental agencies to provide financial assistance to the sufferers.
The District President also sought immediate restoration of infrastructure, especially the road-network, saying the mobility of the people belonging to peripheral areas has got hugely affected.
He also sought restoration of essential services like power and drinking water besides stocking adequate rations at the CAPD depots. He urgent the administration to ensure restoration of the vegetable market that has suffered hugely due to flash floods.

Assailing the Agriculture Department for failing in providing seeds and other inputs to farmers, despite sowing season having begun, he expressed dismay over nonchalant attitude of the PDP-BJP government. “They can’t remain in a state of inertia with people suffering”, he added.
