New Delhi, Apr 06: Dr. Syed Amin Tabish was awarded “iconic personality of the healthcare” for his outstanding contribution in healthcare, medical education, scientific research and medical literature at the 7th MT India 2017 Healthcare Awards during the 23rd International Conference and Exhibition (6th to 8th April) held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The awards celebrated meaningful service and dedication to the healthcare sector by outstanding professionals, hospitals and other organizations.
The award ceremony was opened by the Director General of Health Services, Dr Jagdish Prasad, who delivered a keynote address highlighting the objectives of national health policy and innovations in medical technology in India and abroad. The awards were given out by the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Faggan Singh Kulaste, who spoke about government’s plan to increase the overall expenditure on health in the country. The current spending stands at 1.4% of the GDP and is likely to be gradually increased to 2% over the coming years. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from several parts of the world.
The medical fair, which is the largest of its kind in Asia, hosted several scientific conferences/seminars in conjunction with exhibition of innovative biomedical technology solutions from across the world. Companies and manufacturers from a number of countries, including Japan, Korea, China, Germany, UK and Taiwan, among others, can be seen displaying and demonstrating their products at the fair from 6th April to 8th April.
Dr.Tabish is a recipient of several national and international awards. He has authored several textbooks and has more than 400 research publications to his name. He is also the editor of more than a dozen international medical journals. At present, Dr.Tabish is working as Professor and Head Hospital Administration cum Medical Superintendent of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar. (KNS)
