Suicide Case: Police calls HDFC Cluster Head for questioning

Sopore, April 7:  Police Friday called the Cluster Head of the Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) for questioning in a suicide case here in North Kashmir’s Sopore town of Barmulla district.

Pertinently, a 31 year old woman (name withheld) from Takyabal Sopore committed suicide and according to her family members she had left a note in which she blamed the HDFC Cluster head for the suicide. The deceased was the employee of the Bank.

“To our shock we find her hanging inside the room. Close to her was a suicide note in which she had written that she was harassed by the Cluster Head of HDFC Bank,” the family members of the deceased family said adding that police have registered an FIR vide number 82/2017 under section 306 and they are waiting for the justice.

The accused Cluster Head, who was earlier Branch Manager HDFC branch Hari Singh High Street Srinagar, was in news when a case of bungling surfaced there. Shaheed Gunj Police Station after probing the matter had arrested a security guard then.

SP Sopore Harmeet Singh Mehta confirmed that accused (name withheld) was called for questioning on Friday. “We are investigating the matter and truth will surface,” he said.

Meanwhile, a top official of HDFC Bank told CNS that Bank has nothing to do with the matter. “It is the personal matter of the Cluster Head and I request all not to drag the Bank in it.” (CNS)
