​Veeri asks officers to avoid overrun of cost and time

Reviews status of developmental works in Anantnag
ANANTNAG, MAY 04: Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction, Abdul Rehman Veeri, urged the officers to speed up developmental activities and avoid overrun of cost and time.

The Minister was speaking at the high-level meeting of sectoral officers of various departments and engineering wings at Dak Bunglow here today.

Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Syed Abid Rashid, while giving details about different developmental works going on in the district, informed the Minister about the status of land acquisition process of different road and developmental projects in the district. The Minister directed the officers to form a joint team of officers of different departments to complete the land acquisition process for the developmental projects within one month.

The Minister was informed that work is under progress on 151.27 km of road length under Phase-X, which would connect 21 habitations in the district. The meeting was also informed that under PMGSY (JKRRDA) construction of 262.83 km of road length has been recommended for connecting 109 habitations in the district.

With regard to the construction of bridges, the engineers gave out that five bridges were completed in 2016-17 and 46 bridges are currently being constructed at various places in the district.

The Minister also sought status of different water supply schemes (WSS) in the district, including WSS Gooripora Nigeenpora, WSS Batkote Gujjar Basti, WSS Vail, Pethan Zamindari Khul.

The Minister directed the SE Hydrolic and ACD Anantnag for de-silting of Zamindari Khuls so that proper irrigation facility is provided to the farmers of the district during the current Kharief. They were asked to complete the dredging work within a week in coordination with all BDOs of the district.

To upgrade the power distribution network in the district, Veeri asked the officers to pace up the process of implementing different schemes like RAPDRP, IPDS and DDUGJY in the district.

During the meeting, the Minister also sought report on the progress of work on District Hospital Anantnag, receiving stations at Iqbalabad, Batakoot (Pahalgam) and Cherpora-Shangus, and replacement of existing barbed/strained conductors and wires.

The meeting also discussed the proposed transmission plan for new grid stations at Mattan, Sallar-Sirigufwara, Batakoot-Pahalgam and Qazigund and augmentation of Gopalpora Grid Station and progress of works on Government Medical College Dialgam, District Hospital Anantnag, Trauma Hospital Bijbehara, SDH Kokernag.

The meeting discussed face-lifting of Anantnag town and construction of storm drainage water system in Mirdanter and Dabruna areas of the district under AMRUT.

Seeking details about restoration work on nallahs and river Jhelum, the Minister was informed that 162 flood protection works on various nallahs and river Jehlum, damaged during September, 2014 floods have been fully restored.

In view of the upcoming tourist season in the Valley, Veeri also sought details of different works being executed under the supervision of Pahalgam Development Authority, including solid waste management, development/fencing of parks, illumination works at various links/parks, creation/development of camping site facilities and maintenance of golf courses.
