Srinagar, May 04: Strongly condemning the arresting of his party leader, Riyaz Ahmad Wani of Yaripora, in Kulgam district, senior Hurriyat leader and Jammu Kashmir National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan today said that men in uniform have spread a reign of terror in nook and corner of the disputed region.
In a statement issued to KNS, Nayeem Khan said that political activists like Riyaz Ahmad are being harassed every now and then and fabricated cases are being registered against them. He stressed upon immediate release of Riyaz Ahmad whose activities are strictly political in nature.
Condemning the latest arrests in Aripanthan, Budgam, Nayeem Khan said that men in uniform are not honouring even the privacy of the common people and are raiding and ransacking houses during dead nights.
He said that what happened in Aripanthan, last night is not only condemnable but alarming as well because it has become a routine now that men in uniform barge into the residential houses during night and shamelessly beat, harass and terrorize even women folk.
Nayeem Khan said that hundreds of youth are spending their days and nights out of their homes to save themselves from the police wrath. This has not only disturbed their parents but given rise to a social problem as well. These youth who are scared of police are not even able to take forward their schooling which is sure to ruin their future.
Nayeem Khan said that the whole state apparatus is working with a mindset of coercion and despotism particularly against the youth. He said that the state has come out with its full force against the youth and has waged an open war against the new generation in nook and corner of the disputed region to suppress the ongoing resistance movement.
Stressing upon New Delhi to shun the path of stubbornness over Kashmir dispute Nayeem Khan said that the killing and arrest spree is the result of unethical and undemocratic approach of India towards the accepted Kashmir dispute. New Delhi and its local stooges do not have the guts to accept the hard realities of the dispute. Nayeem Khan warned that if the arrest spree of youth is not stopped immediately it will have drastic consequences. (KNS)
