Clashes in Budgam, Pulwama after Friday prayers

SRINAGAR | MAY 19 : Clashes erupted between the security forces and protesters demanding release of detained youth in Batpora, Kanihama area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday.

Reports said that 10 youth were arrested from Batpora and 5 from Kanihama area during night raids, which triggered protest adding that hundreds of people assembled after Friday prayers and shouted anti-India and pro-freedom slogans besides slogans against the nocturnal police raids.

The protesters pelted stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shells triggering clashes.

Meanwhile, In Pulwama, protesters clash with forces soon after the congregational prayers as they were staging protest as per the call given by joint resistance leaders, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik against the slapping of PSA on Syeda Aasiya Andrabi and her close aide Sofi Fehmeeda.
