People participated to make anti-polythene drive a success
Jammu, May 16: As a part of weeklong ‘Swachh Saptah’ campaign, Block Development Officer, Nagrota on Tuesday conducted door-to-door campaign to collect polythene bags in Panchayat Nagrota, ensuring participation of people.
The drive was led by BDO Nagrota, Dr Syed Namaz Nahin Tabasam Shah in which PO DRDA Chander Kanta , Naib Tehsildar (Nagrota) Bansi Lal, ex-sarpanches, school children and prominent citizens of the area also participated.
During the drive, the RDD officials and prominent citizens conducted door-to-door campaign to collect polythene bags from different residents of Nagrota Panchayat and make them aware about the hazardous effect of polythene bags on health.
The officials also installed dust bins. The people participated in the campaign and willingly handed over polythene bags to the RDD officials who went to their door steps to collect the polythene bags. Meanwhile, cleanliness drive was also launched in Nagrota Panchayat.
The officials and locals cleaned lanes and drains in Panchayat to which people expressed gratitude to the Rural Development Department (RDD). During the drive, local residents and shopkeepers in mohallas themselves handed over the polythene bags to the officials.
Pertinently, the drive across the State has been launched on directions from the Rural Development Department Minister Abdul Haq Khan under the supervision of Director RDD Jammu RK Bhat, ACD Jammu Mohd Tasir Latifi and DPO Jammu Dr Anirudh.
