Srinagar, May 19: Jammu and Kashmir Insaf Party Friday convened a meeting at Handwara to memorialize the anniversary of Shaheed-e-Hurriyat, Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone and Shaheed-e-Millat, Molvi Mohammad Farooq.
According to the statement issued to KNS, Quranic verses were recited and congregational Fateha Khawani was also held for their eternal peace.
The meeting was addressed by the Party chairman, G A Gulzar, District President Kupwara, Ghulam Qadir Kashmiri and District President Srinagar, Mohammad Hanief Khan.
Gulzar, in his address reminded the political vision of his political mentor when after the infamous rigged elections of 1987 Lone strongly advocated the revival of the Plebiscite Front before an executive meeting of the Muslim United Front.
He also suggested the resignation of the MLA’s from the Assembly which was formed through rigged elections. “These revolutionary suggestions were turned down by the then political leadership until the inception of armed struggle in 1990,” he said.
Paying tributes to ‘such a great visionary statesman of our freedom movement’, Gulzar as a disciple of Lone appealed the Hurriyat leadership to feel the pulse of the highly enthusiastic people and especially the young generation after the Intifada of 2016.
The leadership with a strong resolve and commitment must keep in mind that India is frightened by the overwhelming support of the people to the APHC and that is why it has hesitations to enter any dialog process and is hell bent to break the will of this forum by its military might and other ‘suppressive measures’.
