Handwara, May 26: Tehsil level meeting of Lecturer’s Forum was held at Handwara which was presided by Peerzada Irshad Ahmad and attended by representatives of various higher secondary schools to discuss problems faced by students and staff.
“It was decided to apprise the higher authorities of education department regarding the non-availability of staff and infrastructure in higher secondary schools,” the Forum said in a statement to KNS.
“There are some higher secondary institutions which were upgraded in early eighties and accordingly the posts were sanctioned by the department at the time. The initial role of these institutions was less than three digits. But with the passage of time, the roll increased which is presently beyond the limits of class rooms.”
“It is very unfortunate that posts were not created as per increase in enrollment. This negligence of concerned authorities has hit the students academic in Handwara. Some reported higher secondaries like Girls Handwara, Boys Langate, M.H Pora and Qalamabad are suffering badly due to non-availability of infrastructure and required teaching staff.”
The participants of the meeting said that it is not only the students who are sufferers but the teaching fraternity at +2 level is depressed because of confirmation of I/Lecturers and I/c principals, not sanctioning of running grade and shift in Pay Band and change of nomenclature which they are demanding for the last 5 years.
They have appealed higher authorities to fill the vacant post of principals and promote the lecturers on senior scale immediately.
It was unanimously decided that every action in favor lecturers taken by Dr. Manzoor and Abdul Qayoom Wani will be endorsed with full sport. (KNS)
